Biography

Dr. Sharmeen Mahmud is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the director of a boutique mental health and wellness firm. She has over 20 years of experience in providing school-based therapy services at organizations such as Los Angeles Unified School District and consulting with public and charter schools on behavioral health services. Sharmeen Mahmud is also a credentialed School Counselor and school administrator in the state of California. She is the founder of a trauma-informed social-emotional learning program entitled Calm with Character. Her research interests are in trauma-informed school practices and educator wellness. Her accolades include a doctor of education with a specialization in mind, brain, and teaching from Johns Hopkins University and a master’s in marriage, family, and child counseling from the University of Southern California.
