Melody Vang is very excited to be a part of the learning environment and join the faculty team at her alma mater. She is a first generation Hmong-American graduate, community-made woman (she/her), and is determined to let her interpersonal creativity encourage others to be the best version of themselves. She earned her Master of Arts in General Psychology from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Jose State University. She began her teaching endeavors as an on-site coordinator for Bay Area Tutor Association. Alongside teaching, she began to embark on her mental health field journey as a support care counselor for foster youth in Eastside San Jose in the Bay Area. From there, she’s been affiliated with nonprofit organizations such as Think Together and has been a Youth Development Professional with The Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove in Southern California. As Melody was gaining teaching experience and incorporating mental health from all over California with her profession, she gained a passionate interest for higher education and has recently worked for Fresno City College’s Counseling Department. Melody has dedicated the past eight years of her life to learning and pursuing psychology in higher education which has naturally manifested into becoming one of her passions. She’s determined to teach others the beauty we find in life and how it can help others and themselves.
