Biography

Amy Tuttle Guerrero, PhD, LMFT is an associate professor of psychology at Pepperdine University. In addition, Dr. Tuttle Guerrero is a clinical supervisor, licensed marriage, couple, and family therapist, and the Director of Clinical Training for the online Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy program. She is an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor and she is active in the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA). Dr. Tuttle Guerrero was the recipient of AFTA’s 2012 Early Career Member Award and she was elected to serve as AFTA’s President (2019 to 2021).

Dr. Tuttle Guerrero’s professional interests include relational, systemic, and social constructionist informed family therapy theories, diversity issues, intervention with marginalized families and communities, relational parenting, and intergenerational processes around issues of trauma and injustice (e.g., the impact of Japanese American internment on multiple generations of a family).

Dr. Tuttle Guerrero has published research on families involved in Child Protective Service Systems, relational orientations, recovery from sexual abuse, and relational parenting. She is currently working on the Family Legacy Project; an ongoing qualitative research study examining relational and interactional processes around issues of trauma and injustice.
