Biography
Dr. Natasha Thapar-Olmos is a licensed clinical psychologist, and received her PhD in Clinical Psychology at UCLA. Before beginning her position at Pepperdine, Dr. Thapar-Olmos trained and worked as a clinician in a variety of settings in Los Angeles including community mental health, correctional facilities, college counseling, and medical settings. Dr. Thapar-Olmos has taught and guest lectured on topics like cognitive behavioral therapy, recovery-oriented services, cultural competence, dialectical behavior therapy, and community psychology.
Her research focuses broadly on multicultural psychology, with emphasis on South Asian and Asian communities. In addition to her clinical and academic work, Dr. Olmos has been active in professional organizations and leadership. She served as the communications chair for the Asian American Psychological Association (AAPA) division on South Asian Americans, and has participated in the American Psychological Associations (APA) Minority Fellowship Program Psychology Summer Institute in 2012. She will be representing the Asian American Psychological Association as a fellow to the Council of National Psychology Associations for the Advancement of Ethnic Minority Interests (CNPAAEMI) Leadership Development Institute in Honolulu in August 2013.
