Biography
Chiconia Anderson is a registered associate marriage and family therapist (AMFT 106786). She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University, with a specialization in marriage and family therapy. Over the past two years, she worked at the David H. Fox Counseling Center, a community-based mental health clinic serving a diverse population, including individual, couple, family, adolescent, and LGBTQIAQ; Elevation Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic in Agoura Hills, California; and in private practice at Insight Psychotherapy Group. Currently Anderson splits time between Insight Psychotherapy Group and Oxnard College Wellness Center. She has led group therapy sessions with teens and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, and self-image issues. She has experience working with Department of Children and Family Services cases, family and marital conflict, depression, anxiety, anger management, post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring disorders, and parenting issues. Anderson’s training focused on postmodern therapy that engaged collaborative, client-centered methods, viewing the clients as full of possibility, identifying their strengths, and working collaboratively toward solutions in their lives. Her work pulls techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and narrative incorporating somatic and mindful-based methods to promote full mind and body healing.
