Biography

Dr. Silje U. Deuerlein’s teaching areas include social psychology and career development theories and practice. In addition, Dr. Deuerlein has more than 10 years of experience in higher education administration, leading recruitment and admissions teams, and creating enrollment strategies at BI Norwegian Business School, Virginia Tech, Pepperdine University Graziadio Business School, and Marymount California University. Born and raised in Norway, Dr. Deuerlein has lived and worked in Trinidad and Tobago, the Netherlands, and Estonia, as well as the United States. Her expatriate experience sparked an interest in cross-cultural research and cultural differences within multicultural corporations, which was the topic of her doctoral dissertation, titled Pioneers Meet Vikings: American Managers’ Perceptions of Cultural Differences in Scandinavian Companies Operating in the United States.
