Biography

Dr. Nicole Jones is a mental health consultant for Children’s Institute, a nonprofit organization, that provides services to children and families healing from the effects of family and community trauma within Los Angeles’ most challenging neighborhoods. Previously, she was responsible for projects in the areas of marketing, event development, talent management, and production for notable media entity Radio Free 102.3 KJLH. Prior to her role at KJLH, she was part of the BET Network team where she focused on behind the scene production of the BET Awards show and BET Experience. Her media experience includes the Los Angeles Sentinel newspaper, where she was engaged in social justice journalism. She has been an education advocate that focuses on improving student attendance, engagement, achievement, graduation, and helping students who were having challenges in the school setting through prevention, early intervention, and intensive intervention. She specifically worked with students who experienced difficulties in achieving their academic potential due to social-emotional trauma and family barriers. Dr. Jones earned her master’s in social work from CSU.
