Biography

Dr. Irene R. Cortez has been a MFT therapist for seven years working with all types of populations and ages ranging from three months old to 65+ years old. She earned her doctoral degree (DMFT) from Loma Linda University, where she created a training program for mental health clinicians to gain knowledge and awareness on infant-early childhood mental health and the impact of trauma on young children. She worked at DMH-contracted agencies for four years before working for a group private practice for the last two years. In addition, she has taught and developed classes at Loma Linda University. Her experience includes graduate courses in practicum and child abuse and family violence. She received her BA from UCI in 2014 and MA from USC in 2016. Dr. Cortez joined Pepperdine in 2022.
